Centro Congressi Porto Antico, Genoa (Italy) from 9/18/2016 to 9/21/2016
The rapid evolution of shipping industry offers new opportunities and determines new needs.
This entails the development of more and more innovative services and solutions, but also a close and effective cooperation between those players able to support shipping companies in facing their challenges, such as insurance companies and classification societies.
Ugo Salerno, Chairman and CEO from RINA, will contribute to the 142nd IUMI Annual Conference (International Union of Marine Insurance) holding a session on Underwriters and classification societies: an innovative approach.
The speech will approach few crucial issues of the future shipping:
- attention to Marine software, with the aim of an increasing digital ship management, but also to prevent any cyber security attack
- use of innovative technologies such as Additive Manufacturing ( also known as 3D printing ) in the building and repairing processes
- training and assessment of soft skills and competencies of personnel at all levels, essential both for staff selection and continuous education
- an improving PSC performance due to design, construction and maintenance processes more and more oriented in a perspective of risk management.
